News & Opportunities to Serve

2023-2024 Preschool Fall Registration for the CLC Registration will begin on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 for all
returning students. Registration will be open to the public on Friday, February 3, 2023. Please call the church office or
see the weekly email blast or the church website for more information.

Financial Peace University Have you been feeling financial pressure after the holidays? Would you like to find a
way to pay down your debt and save for the future? Then join us this spring for Financial Peace University! This 9
week study will offer practical tools and applications for you to pay down debt, save more, and find ways to live with
generosity as a core value. Mr. Ben Myers has worked in the financial world for over 40 years and is a wonderful
teacher and resource for participants who are serious about changing their financial present and future. Please see the

UMCOR Flood Bucket Event On February 16th we are traveling to the North Georgia Disaster Response
Warehouse in Eastpoint to spend the day sorting through Flood Buckets, Educational Kits and other UMCOR
response packages. This will be light work with chairs and tables provided to sit and sort. Max participants will be 15,
if you are interested in going, please contact Barry Goughler at 770-843-1983.

Valentine’s Dinner Come and join us for a night of fine dining as the youth host and serve dinner restaurant style.
Tickets are on sale now. Please see any youth or youth parent to purchase yours today!

Shrove Dinner On February 22nd from 5-6:30 Children’s will be hosting a Shrove Dinner before our Ash
Wednesday Service. We will be having Breakfast for Dinner, Deserts and King Cake! Adults are $8 and children are
$6. Please contact Mrs. Taylor with any questions.

Ladies Paint Party Join the United Women in Faith on Thursday, March 2, in our own Family Life Center to be
guided through painting beautiful sunflowers! We’ll begin at 6:00 and should be done by 8:00. Childcare will be
available with a snack provided for the little ones. Please bring a snack to share for the other painters. The cost is $38
abd you can pay Anita Bailey, Deidra Fellows, Barb Duncan or Debbie Ray. If paying by check, please make it payable to the United Women in Faith, not the church. Hope to see you there!

Glisson Spiritual Life Retreat The youth will be going to Glisson for the Spiritual Life Retreat March 17-19. This is
open for grades 6-12. Registration myst be in by March 1st. Please consider sponsoring our youth! See Cody Gentry
for details on the cost and how you can help.

WOW Dinner Join us Wednesday for WOW Dinner. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3
for children, This menu for February 8th is: Hot Dog bar, beans, slaw, chips, chili, desert.

Wednesday Night Book Study Join us for a study of Will Willimon’s “Fear of the Other” beginning January 18, at
6:30 p.m. in the Barton Room. In this no non-sense book, reliable spiritual guide, Will Willimon invites reader to
consider the gospel command to love (and not merely tolerate) those considered to be “Other” or outside mainstream
Christian culture. Rooted in the faith of Israel and the Christian story and vision, Willimon brings a Wesleyan
perspective to bear on what may be the hardest thing for people of faith to do: keeping and loving the “Other” as they
are- without any need for them to become like us.

Altar Flowers for 2023 Now is the time to reserve your Sunday for altar flowers for 2023. The cost is currently $40,
but is expected to increase soon. Please use the envelopes available in the pew and include the dedication that you
